Each day the world becomes more and
more interconnected and interdependent politically, financially and
economically. International corporations merge to form super conglomerates.
Wealth is created at a pace and in manners previously never contemplated.
And yet the glaring disparity between the rich and the poor simply
cannot be ignored. As wealth and a sense of investment in society
are intergenerational, so are poverty and the hopelessness that all
too often accompanies it. Without a doubt, many individuals and organizations
throughout our country have attempted, in their own benevolent ways,
to quiet the understandably desperate cries from within the inner
cities. These attempts are necessary and worthwhile, but we still
have not found a way to address the problems of youth living in underserved
communities in a systematic way. It has been appreciated but has not
provided the needed relief and has, at best, placed a bandage over
a gaping wound. To be sure, it is naïve to believe that we can
reverse society's woes in one day. However, we believe that concerned
people can and must draw upon their individualized talents to accelerate
the process in order to see some of the results we desire.
TACTT is an organization, that seeks to instill positive life skills
into teenagers, particularly in the area of finance. We believe
that these life skills will enlighten and empower them to become
effectual, positive members of their communities. In short, we believe
that with guidance, information and positive reinforcement, our
country's youth can become agents of positive change for their families,
their communities and for the world as a whole.
TACTT's Executive Director, Gilbert Michel, founded the organization
in May of 2000, and incorporated TACTT in November of 2002. Michel
has been exposed to accounting since his childhood. His father directed
the affairs of the family accounting firm where Michel worked since
he was 14 years old. Michel's passion to see America's inner cities
of financially revived, has fueled his efforts to partner with other
youth-based initiatives to further TACTT. He brings to TACTT a combination
of financial experience and an abiding concern for our country's
youth that is certain to inspire its participants to achieve goals
they previously believed were out of reach.
